Back to passive J?

I loved my old passive MIM J setup with SD Antiquity 1 pups, but got tired of sound guys complaining about single coil hum when I slightly favoured bridge pup. So I went with Suhr Humphreys and an East J-Retro. I used to have a Suhr Classic J and was trying to mimic it. Hasn’t worked out. Just can’t seem to get close to that single coil sound. Do I need to go back to full passive to get a more classic sound, or can you guys recommend a hum-free alternative that might get me a bit closer? Thanks.

Look into Seymour Duncan Apollo Jazz pickups.

I have a set of DiMarzio Area J's in my cheap Bacchus which are working nicely - decent sound and they seem to be rather quiet. I also just put a set of JBE pickups in my P/J and these are also giving me rich sound, very good balance, and also seem to be quiet (when I solo the bridge J pickup). Both options are probably worth a little research - perhaps more bang for your buck with the DiMarzios, but JBE puts out a pretty serious product.
