Back to the Fender Jazz Bass

I have been in search for a new bass and have been wavering among many brands and models. Went to GC today to just try things out. There was a Jazz Bass that caught my eye, it wasn’t like other Jazz basses. Had a slimmer neck, SD pups and preamp, made in Korea?, flamed maple top? Must have been a good construction day because it was solid, great sustain, and awesome feel. The SD electronics made it great. I went on to play EBMMs (which I am a fan of) Warwicks, American Fenders, Ibanez, (you get the idea), and I kept coming back to this 500.00 Jazz bass. Past few years I have avoided Fenders because I wanted to have a more ‘unique’ sound. I guess I am just a Jazz Bass guy because I am buying it after work. Back to the Fender Farm for me!

I always come back to good old J's. I look at it like this: double bass isn't complex, trumpet isnt complex, and most other instruments aren't complex (at least in the same way as basses...I'm talking 4 band filter based 18V preamps here ), so why shoud the bass guitar be any different? A good J will do any job I need it to do, and well, I might add.

Agreed, the Jazz gets it done for me. I was seriously impressed with this model and particularly this instrument. Played better than the American series on the wall.

After years of musical hiatus, i came back to music with a 70's Jazz, before i stopped playing i tried many basses, never cared much for the ol´jazz. Now i cannot imagine life without that combination of thump and nasalness served daily.

I love all types of basses, number of strings, exotic tops, etc... But at the end of the day if I could only have 1 instrument it would be a J - 5 string in particular for me but a J nonetheless.

I like the J bass 24 too, great bass not just because of the price but great bass period!

Welcome back to Fender. I left them by the mid 70's pretty much, and came
back in 92 and I realized what I'd been missing. Fender seems to have a Jazz Bass
model to fit everyone's needs and tastes these days.

Just wanted to make a first post here. I just spent a few days looking for a Fender Jazz Bass and playing just about everything in sight. I had never heard of the J 24 model before, but when I got to this one I was so happy I could hardly contain myself.

I picked it up new for $399 at Guitar Center and would have happily paid 3 or 4 times that.

I'm so in love with everything about this bass that I'm starting to think I've lost my mind! I took off the stock strings (which were fairly nice) and put on some D'Addario Chromes and I can barely put this thing down. It's honestly everything I've ever looked for in a bass. IMO you get a tremendous amount for your money, and it feels so good too.

If you have a chance, go check one out. This one is my new favorite by a huge margin

I've had P-Basses, a Stingray, an Ibanez, a Custom job or two and have tried just about every bass made and I always come back to a Jazz (or something with Jazz pickups). It doesn't matter if it's an SX or my LowEnd Jazz. Jazz basses just hit the spot for me.

After many years of playing, during which I owned a bit of everything, I decided I wanted to get me a Fender Jazz; I ended up assembling a Geddy Lee body with an American Precision RW neck (got big hands) + Audere, and I´m in love with this bass as it has the tone and the feel I wanted
