Recently felt like I needed a break from screens and switched to a much simpler device... Quite relaxing to have an "ol' flippie", as my British bass player acquaintance puts it, that is used solely for calls, texts and the most basic of net browsing (solely calling in Brit's case!).

I spend more time doing things I need to do, spend less on things I don't and lastly, give my eyes a break!

No way I could go back to a flip (or "stupid phone," as my MIL calls them). I depend on my iPhone for so much. Podcasts, GPS, weather, conversions (still trying to get used to metric here in CA), and the list goes on.

I totally understand wanting a break from screens, but I also can't imagine living without the convenience of my smartphone. Love it or hate it, it's the standard now.

Beautiful piece of tech!

I held on to my first clamshell until it began to straight-up deteriorate well beyond the point of usability. By then we were so many generations deep into smartphones that the upgrade in software blew my mind straight out of my skull and well across the universe, but even then I never dug the new standard form factor.

Honestly, it still bugs me that smartphones- the picture of futuristic conveniences- only keep getting bigger and bulkier and glassier when for a glorious moment society favored these adorable little pocket-turtles.

Congrats on your vintage stylings. May it bring you all the simplicity and joy it can.

My phone is a Windows Phone, there is no support for it anymore. Apps have been falling to the wayside for a couple years now. It might as well be a flip phone because about all it's good for is calls and text.

I can't say I'd like to go back to a basic flip style phone. I sure remember them though, back to the Motorola StarTAC. I think that was the first flip phone ever. I paid $1,200 for it in 1995 or maybe it was '96.
I'm comfortable with my Android phone now.
Funny thing is, prices are about the same for high end cell phones now as they were 20+ years ago.
