I believe the magic of the CA series is the result of the power amp design and it's massive reserves, which, is the reason for the weight, so I don't think the Pro series would be the same. What about the Crest Pro Series? Half the weight of the CA series amps. Personally, I've never heard either amp, but it seems worth comparing.
OMG...same weight as the db 750, but headroom and tone for days.

But I thought that huge transformer was also a function of it's ability to source huge current (even at a given gain ratio), which is also a function of the reserve power... I think the caps are just for the transients, but you gotta' back that up with strong current sourcing abilities to keep it going, and I thought that was all about the transformer... no?The reason for the weight is a very large transformer and the chassis to support it. The reserves is in the caps. IMHO, the "magic" of the CA series is in the gain. I schlepped mine around for 2 years before I figured it out.
Finaly I ended up with a QSC PLX 3002 and so far there is nothing to complain about.
I´ll be back with more input on this unit when I´ve tried it out more.
my crown XTi 2000 does fairly well in our oppressively hot and humid practice space. 17lbs isn't too bad for 2,000 watts bridged.
