I'm sure I'm not alone here, but I was wondering how common it is for people with tube heads to bring a backup solid state head to gigs with them. I have an aging B-25, and for some reason, I've always felt the need to keep a backup around in case something went wrong either in transit, or at the gig. Am I paranoid, or is this a valid fear?

Nearley every bassist i know that use tube heads, also brings a spare Solid State (old 80's Peavey Mark series is a big favorite).
That, or they just borrow my GK/Kustom/Peavey/Sunn heads when their fancypants heads don't work

Sansamp would be my first choice of a backup; less hassle, cheaper, and if it does SVT as good as they say I think it would be just as good as your main rig. One gig on monitor-mids only won't harm you I guess...
I'm going to buy a back up amp soon because often my tube head is just too big and heavy to take with me!
