Not sure this is the appropriate forum but here goes! I'm running direct to my focus rite and used ampire, the built in amp models in Pre Sonus Studio 6 on this recording. Recorded with focus rite headphones and used studio monitors for playback. I've tried using a line 6 pod, going direct, and micing a guitar cab. All sound awful. My bass sounds ok when I Mic the cab but of I go direct with my bass it sounds really bad.

Bad Guitar Tone Going Direct

It sounds like you're pretty aggressively attacking the strings. Sort of a Steve Harris sounding vibe, albeit in a different genre. Is this the type of tone you're going for, or were you aiming for something fatter?
