I have a late-80s Hondo 8202 body hanging around. It was my first bass, and it's unloaded (though it's possible the original electronics are hanging around somewhere).

I was planning on stripping the finish and reloading it, but here's the question: I wanted to use the stuff I have around the house, which means my P pup is going to be either from an Affinity P, or the Duncan SBP-3 I have installed on another body. And for the Js, I have a set of MIMs.

My initial thought was to use the Quarter-Pounder and one of the MIM Js, preferably the neck pup in hopes of getting a warmer tone out of my bridge.

Is that silly? Are there actual differences between the neck and bridge pups other than their locations? Will the pups I mentioned play nicely together?
