Badass Conversion for Ric

Hey Guys,

I have a Ric 4003 and would like to replace the stock bridge with a BAII. Does anyone know where I can get a cover or a conversion kit for this, or do you have to fab something yourself?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I don't know about the BA conversion, but have you looked at the Hipshot direct replacement Rickenbacker bridge?

The Hipshot would be the best method; with the Badass you have to route the body in order to sink the bridge low enough.

The hipshot is about $145, and should not require nearly the level of mod that a BadAss II will. That said, I have a BadAss on mine and I love it! Unless you are comfortable digging into your bass, leave it to a luthier...

I have a Badass on mine as well and feel it's worth having to route the body. Makes a huge difference!

I just recently had a '77 4001 with an original '70s Badass bridge on it, and it had a killer tone. Much more punchy and focused. If I had a choice, though, I'd just get the Hipshot as it's more suited to the Ric.

I had a 70s 4001 with a badass bridge. It made intonation easier but it didn't really improve the tone.
