Bag End 2x12 Cabinet Identification

I'm trying to get an idea about when these cabinets were made and what the impedance ratings are. Any info would be appreciated.

I own an older early 80s birch plywood Bag End D10M 2x10 cabinet. I had no idea of the model number and contacted Bag End for help back in 2014. Here is the email address of the person I corresponded with... Dan Sarceno.. [email protected]. No idea if he still works there but worth a try. In the late 80s I played in an East Coast Grateful Dead tribute band that at one point had an entire Bag End backline of the birch ply cabinets loaded with JBL drivers. I suspect that yours were also built in the early 80s.

Thanks for the info. These aren't my cabinets. I'm thinking about purchasing them. My guess was built in the 80s and that they are 8 ohm. They were known for being high quality. Just heavy by today's standards.

I have the same cabinet, and it has JBL's in it. It is an 8 Ohm cabinet. If you can test them out first, you may like them. discussed the cabinet with the guys at Bag end, and they said it wasn't one of their best. You may love it, and they are built like tanks.

Those look to be D-12-B cabinets. They should be 29 1/4 x 22 x 20 inches and close to 99 lbs. Not sure how long they made those, but they were making them in 1980. In this case the “B” does not stand for birch, but bass extension. Should be a four ohm cab.

Good to know. I don't have any pics of the back but was told there is a round metal plate with Bag End on top, Modular Sound Systems Inc. on the bottom, Made in U.S.A. on the left and a stamped serial # on the right. There are 3 ports in the middle. A chrome, red and black one.

Those wouldn’t be ports those would be the plugs. The chrome one should be a quarter inch jack. The red and the black one should accept a banana plug
