Just to further complicate your decision making process..here is the the powered version of the S-15N. Another great product from Bag End.View attachment 3149865

So thats a preamp you have sitting on top of that ?
Intriguing.

In any case yesterday must have been cabinet day after my main rig blew up. I ordered an S15N yesterday, Im going to be doing some experimenting around with stuff and will be pairing that with my S15D...

I still have my s15D stack - that and the NV412 are the only ones that have hung around over the past decade. BE rated the cabs as “200 watts sine wave” which I have never seen elsewhere, but they are good for at least 300 watts each. The drivers have lower Xmax/higher Xlim which contributes to their unique tone and great efficiency. I used mine with various amps from an 800RB to a bridged 2001RB (GK stuff pairs really well) with no issues. The 2x15 stack is wicked punchy and loud. Plenty of top end, even without a tweeter. Still such a cool cab after all these years!

I had this exact conversation with Bag End. They’re confident in the Nebula finish durability.. they did their research.
This kind of finish has been used on pro audio cabs for a couple of decades. It’s tough and can be repaired more easily than tolex or rat fur. Only thing that surprises me is that Bag End building all the pro audio stuff they do took so long to start using it.

I’m all for anything dog hair doesn’t stick to...

I can only imagine from separate experiences with both that this combo has a LOT of potential.

My thoughts exactly. I had a 215 rig years ago, and it was about as punchy as anything I have owned since. Felt a little anemic on the low end with a little mark3, but absolutely phenomenal with a Streamliner 900. Kind of miss that rig. The slam and feel of the limiter on the BB800 would likely be a fantastic match.

I was just looking at the specs on these..was surprised to see the low end is rated at 46 Hz..

Other cabs are out there that are rated as going lower..

kind of surprised
That low end roll-off point is something a lot of people like about these cabs. Not that surprising when you look at how many amps have onboard high pass filtering and the increasing popularity of HPF stompboxes.

yup...thats sort of what came to mind to me when i saw that.

So the new cab i ordered has neutrik connectors. the deep red i already have has 1/4" and bananna plugs...its an old one from around 1998 probably.

I can go neutrik out from the amp, to neutrik in on the new cab, than 1/4" out from the new cab to 1/4" in on the old cab right? Trying to avoid buying a new jack plate.

All the plugs on the back are parallel so it should work. If it doesn't the plug in question probably isn't working. On my last one only the 1/4" worked and it's not a super straightforward fix so I just lived with it.

I owned a BE custom one off 215 with removable ports . It was two of the DEEP 115 cabs in one.. As large as a washing machine is deep. hahah.
Best sounding 215 I ever played. i toured it and a 212 for many years with a Crown or BGW amp.
I really miss the tone of the BE.. I need to get a single 115 soon.. It would be like coming home to tone again

Is there anyone here that has exacting knowledge of speaker cab design here.
That may know if these will work in a Bag End S12 cab.. I know they will "WORK". maybe not exactly like the stock BE speaker. But that's OK. I want different performance that is equal to or exceeds the stock

Breathing life into this thread: I'm on a quest to find a good back-up amp to my 1971 all tubes Ampeg. I am kind of on a budget, so looking for 2.hand deals, but this market is kinda small in my country, so I'm interested in any info on good, reliable, silent amps that have balls.. I dabble in classic jazz, R'n'B, rock and pop, so I am leaning towards warm and musical oomph, not clinical modern sound imagery, nor metal..

So.. what heads do you guys like to pair with your S15D?
