Bag for amp and pedals

Afternoon,

I'm an engineer. I like everything to have its place and fit perfectly. I tend to keep thinking about things until I've worked out the perfect solution.

I'm trying to work out how to carry my amp and pedalboard in one. I hate doing multiple trips to the car. I'd like to do one, but more realistically, I want to bring it down to two: 1 - cab, 2 - bass, amp, and pedalboard.

I have a Darkglass Microtubes 500 V2 which I need to protect. I am also buying a bigger pedalboard to accomodate a Helix Stomp and a Hotone Ampero Control. Because of the size of both of these, the pedalboard will end up being quite deep. I'd like to get both the amp and a pedalboard into one carry-thing (preferably a bag to save hands).

The pedalboard I'm thinking of buying is a Pedaltrain Metro.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I bought a Gatorcase bag thing and some foam to cut out around the kit, but it turns out it's too small for all this stuff.

Thanks in advance!

The folks at Studio Slips are really great people to run things like this by. They did an amazing job on the clamshell bag for one of my DIY amps.

Thank you for the suggestion. I'm in the UK, so whilst they look great, I can't see myself paying the shipping on those! They're really sexy though.

What sort of price did you pay for your custom clamshell?

I have a 12x12 Gator mixer bag that fits a Markbass head and Pedaltrain Nano, plus cables. You might try one of their larger offerings to fit your amp and pedals.

This is basically what I bought, although I think I got a slightly larger version. I think I might have to trade it in for an even larger one.

Something of this kidney?

That makes a lot of sense, not very sexy though :(

Oops, usually I catch a non-US location. ;)

The amp is only around the size of a Mesa Subway, etc. IIRC it was right around $100 USD and took 3 weeks or so for order fulfillment. It's held up quite well even without the optional leather reinforcement patches they offer.

A sister amp lives in a $30-ish Mackie mixer bag that works fine and then I have a Pelican case for this one that I bought for a NAMM trip where others would be transporting it for me in a typical scary band van pack.

That's very nice, I'm quite jealous. I think I might just need a bigger mixer bag to be honest.
