Double Bass Baggs Venue D.I.

Anyone tried one of these on upright yet? Looks like the only thing missing is a high pass filter and maybe phantom power.

Anybody know of another preamp or pedal with a parametric EQ? I don't want to have to carry around a rack mount.

That looks cool! I had the gigpro, it was OK, but I liked the Fishman plat pro better.

the mandolin player in my band just got one. i'll get him to let me try it. currenty using the fishman pro plat. and like it quite a bit. i'll let you know what i think when i get a chance to try it.

I used the Fishman pro platinum eq for a while and it was pretty good. I ended up getting a Radial tonebone PZ-pre. It's pretty cool too. 2 Phase switches, one for the amp out, one for the D.I. out, High pass filter, notch filter, eq, boost switch, effects loop, tuner out and 2 channels which are switchable or blendable. No tuner though and the high pass filter is a switch with 2 presets. I prefer the dial like on the pro eq but it seems to work pretty good on the first setting (rolloff at 80hz I think).

I wish someone made a box with all of the above plus maybe a couple acoustic effects like reverb, 9v-48v switchable phantom power, and footswitchable eq. Then I could get rid of all my other pedals!

I just picked up the Venue DI for a 6 week tour I'm going on. I double on electric and upright and have LOVED the Baggs Para DI on my carved flatback DB with a Gary Bartig modded Realist. I just needed a tuner and a mute with the guts of the Para. Perfect solution.

I'll report back once I've compared the Venue to the Para.

Just wanted to give a quick impression:

So I've been using the Venue now for a week of rehearsals for my upcoming tour and it sounds fantastic. I directly ABed it against the Para DI and found the flat tones to be EXACTLY the same. When I bought it, I was told that the guts of the pedal were the same as the guts of the Para. I believe it. It sounds wonderful.

SO - if you're thinking about the Baggs Para but want boost, mute, and a tuner . . . this box is a great choice.
