I did the body edge roundovers before glueup on both of my Ric clone builds, no easy way to get into those tight corners where the body wings meet the neck otherwise.

The cautionary process of leaving of too much heel material, (or anywhere really)...and subsequently regretting doing so because you still have miles of carving to do... but now you're encumbered by the wings... (etc)??
☆Is the best way to learn... (for next time)...to go ahead and do the layout and not be afraid to TRUST yourself & "cut to your line"!
... maybe utilize locating pins when gluing wings on? If you're so inclined.... but that's unnecessary imo.
I use a couple small boards as cauls clamped across the body face of the neck to keep the wing elevation correct...
Then sprinkle a small pinch of fine table salt in the glue seam after spreading... (seriously)... this creates a little grip combating the lateral squishy creep... and has no adverse effects.
Line 'em up to your line... because you "know" where you want stuff... right?

Right?... there's also potential design constraints that influence order of operations.
Im using dowels to register the wings on mine, so actually could carve a bit, take it apart, re-clamp, carve some more, etc. I may start by just doing a 5/8" roundover on the wings, then expand that to look like Rock's carve. Im hoping its like carving a volute, which I was really nervous about until I just did it intuitively.
