Band and COVID Vaccine

I've had the bug twice. 2nd time around was about 8 weeks ago and pretty mild. 1st time was pre-lockdown. That said, today I had a call about an audition for a band on Tuesday and brought it up. For the folks in the band, they are ok either way. But it's a good idea to bring it up and find out what the expectations are up front.

If some of the band members have opinions, use that to guide your decision.

I'd feel terrible, but due to not having a spleen, I would have to knock you back. There's factors around it. It's not just necessarily an opinion. Not only could I easily catch it (probably a death sentence), I could easily give it to ya.

Well, having my brother die of Covid-19, one of our singers and his wife with bouts of it, a brother of the band leader of another band I was in died of it within a day of mine, plus his wife suffering from serious debilitating long Covid-19 for over a year, let’s just say, we are all compliant. Non-Vaxers would be looking for a new band as it is a requirement.

Why would non-Vaxers be looking for another band? Just curious.

We're all vaxxed. Either immuno-compromised or at-risk family in the house or job-required.

If there were adamant un-vaxxed members, I'd be gone. I tick 2 boxes.

Music is my release, not my livelihood. The stress wouldn't be worth it.

What is the concern with unvaccinated, that they will catch it or that you will catch it from them? Just curious?

Both. Un-vaxxed more likely to get it, hence more likely to spread it.

You have to understand what the "vaccine" is, and what it is not...
The "vaccine" at best protects -you- from serious symptoms. That's it.
Nothing anyone around you does, or doesn't do, matters.

And there's the BS. Vaccination reduces the possibility of mutations of the virus in your body, which you will then spread to others, through lower viral loading. It's not about symptoms, it's about your immune system being able to fight off the virus.

Time to shut this thread down.

I'd join the keyboard player. If someone's dumb enough to argue about getting vaccinated then they're not worth my time. They can play Russian roulette with their and their family lives, I'm staying far away.

My band hasn't gigged since Feb 2020 so it's a moot point for me anyway.

However, I agree with everyone else I know: anyone who disagrees with my position is probably stupid and/or a terrible person. I'll leave it up to you to guess what my position is.
