In my experience with belligerent extremists, they would rather have someone in the band who shares their views, than someone who knows how to play. The problem isn't so much their political views, but the priority they attach to them. I'd leave in a minute.
Only once in 30+ years of being in bands was anything religious/political ever brought up...... and it was before I auditioned. I was told the singer was in a same sex marriage and they asked if I would have any issues with that. Naturally my answer was no, I'm cool with it, let's jam. After joining the band I was told how many people turned down auditions when they were asked the same question.... and that surprised me. I guess I never knew how many narrow minded people walk among us.

It surprises me how many of your predecessing auditionees were probably worried that they might become the object of unwanted sexual advances. Even though they were bass players.

As a musician I am aware that most of the people I associate/play/jam with probably have different views than me. I tell my bandmates I don't talk about politics because it never fails to get ugly.
But "pride" shirts? Advocating any kind of violent activity? No way I'll be seen on a stage in public with anybody like that. No. Frakking. Way.
Personal issues with it aside, I am a career professional in my day job and if a photo of me standing with people like that showed up anywhere on the internet I'd likely be fired immediately.

I wouldn't drag it out that long. It would be somewhere between three to four seconds for me.
I dunno, it goes both ways on this. I wouldn't play with these skinhead wanna-bees either, but as I've made the transition from an uber-liberal left-winger in my 20's to a right-leaning independent in my 30's, I've personally experienced more intolerance of viewpoints from the left than I ever did from the right. Having said that I would have quit this band a long time ago. I don't want that association.
Something to consider..... When I was in business school, an instructor who was a former c-suite guy at a fortune 50 basically told not be who we needed to be in order to succeed. He basically told us that in most business circles (outside of silicon valley) to hide the fact that we were Democrats/left-leaning/liberal as best we could. I would say if you want to get along in music, you should put on the appearance of being left-leaning or politically neutral (at best/worst)

It goes beyond music...far beyond. This association cannot end well, you won't feel good about it, and it can ruin your non-band life.
One thing about religion and politics mixed with music is that while you alienate half your audience, you can also replace those with more folks who like you BECAUSE of your particular stance who would otherwise be indifferent to just another band.
So as the saying goes, if ya can't beat 'em, join 'em.

This exchange is going to end up with a moose, a squirrel, and an anti-anti-missile-missile-missile, isn't it?
My last band we never discussed politics at rehearsals or gigs, but on Facebook my guitar player and I would bicker incessantly over politics. But not in person at rehearsals. Even with that careful separation, I got tired of it. I joined a couple "let off some steam" groups and for the last year or so, my Facebook page is all music videos and puppy memes. Now I am in two bands. One we don't talk politics, at all, ever. It's great. The other, the drummer can't say two sentences without throwing some hate at a certain politician. It started being "hmm, interesting" and now it's mildly amusing but eventually it will get tiring and annoying. I'm hoping he tires of it before too long, but I suspect I'll have to ask him to stop or learn to accept that he has that verbal tic like it's some disability.
