Band looking for advice

Low A is 27.5hz and I assume G is around 25. You're not hearing the fundamental at that point unless you have a 15" etc. I'm getting a dark lord bass set for F#. Harmonics at that point as the fundamental would be too muddy
I don't think it's going to do you any good at 35" scale. Honestly. There are limits to what good German engineering can make up for, lack of adequate string length isn't really one of them. I'm sure plenty of people play F# on 35" and think it sounds fine, but they're not hearing the fundamental at all, sorry.

Again, folks are probably mostly hearing overtones and inferring the root tone.

Yeah, the ratio of overtones makes your brain think it exists, which is why a loud fundamental isn't that critical. I play a 35" F# and it's fine. The fundamental isn't there but it's there. :D

It's made F#,B,E,A. I've seen in played and every little thing was designed to get that low F to sound good
Sorry, no offense, but no matter how well built a 35" scale bass is, it can't come close to competing with a Quake or any other similarly extended scale bass. Not the same thing at all. It's like your guitar player putting fat strings on his strat and claiming he can "cover the bass part". It's just not long enough. There is a very good basic Physics reason that instruments get larger as notes go lower.

Well yeah the fundamental is long gone, yet the string is a .175. I've read in other places that even if the fundamental was reached, it would be real muddy with certain speaker sizes etc. It is audible through the Harmonics and as a guy said here, periphery use F# on a bass and it sounds massive

Stand in front of my Trace Elliot V6 with the Dr Bass 2x12 combo and the Accugroove el Whappo Grande 21" hooked up while I'm playing E0, and your brain will more than think it exists. It'll feel it - very literally. That low is basically "infrasonic body music". It does things to one's body. That's why the military is investigating weaponizing infrasonics. Doesn't have to be used in anger, though. ;)

The whole "brown note" myth has been busted, though. Sorry. :D

I do agree I feel that 35" isn't long enough and although I don't fully understand the physics, I do know that lower strings should have longer scale (multi scale, dingwal etc) it won't be a loss if I don't dig the sound cause it can be set up for B or E as well

I've been hearing about the accugrooves lol. I'll see what I can do with my own gear and the dark lord and see what happens. The fundamental is gone without special care but you can hear it plenty fine. My band plays drop C and drop A normally lol we just though that doing drop E would be the most doom/ drone thing ever. Plus I think the bass is sweet and I can set it up for anything I want since the nut is adjustable. Hell I could go to drop C and put my Ibby back in standard

Funny, I've never really been into the whole drop tuning thing. Not why I want to go low at all. But hey, each to his own, do what thou wilt. :)

The Accugroove is a great cab, don't get me wrong, but they finally did have to admit they fudged the low frequency specs. If I was doing it again, I wouldn't go that way, there are others doing it much better these days. TB user DukeLeJeune knows more about low freq speakers than I ever will. ;)

I don't think the octaver will work, even if it's a down-tuned guitar I think it will have major problems tracking that low. Maybe a digital octaver, but it won't sound like a bass at all.

I have to wonder, if the guitars are that low, why do you even need a bassist? I mean why bother? Notes that low are incredibly difficult to transduce, either through a speaker or via a recording. I can't imagine much useful attack or even pitch information will come out. It seems like it would just be thick mud.

Well my friend has an 8 and I remembered the vampyre so we figured it would be idiotic and awesome. Going to tune it E,A,E,A ;)
The Vampyres are pretty cool looking, if you're into that sort of thing. ;) I've seen at least one I'd actually be interested in, most of them are a bit over the top for this old man. :D

Don't tell the Musicmaster owners with strat pickups in their basses!
The difference, of course, being that Musicmasters are played by actual bassists, not guitarist wannabes with fat strings. ;) But yeah, baritone guitar and short scale bass meet at 30", call it whatever you like.
