Band members on your bass?

I have no problem with my band members using my instruments.

Me too. I have no problem at all with anyone in the band playing my stuff. It's funny though... The guitarists have never touched anything of mine. The drummer seems to be the big "toucher" though. He's very respectful of everyone's equipment so it's cool.

It depends. My one guitarist was once a bassist and knows how to play, so I'm not too concerned (also respects the **** out of my gear). I'd expect the vocalist and drummer to respect my gear too, just not really know how to play, might sound like a train reck.

I never ever played a bass until I played a band members. that kind of got me started thinking. Band members yes. randoms ***?

I find it helpful to put on Lee Press-on Lesions all over my arms and face before gigs, for some reason nobody ever picks up my bass.

What about people in your band? Would you let the drummer pick up your bass if the guitar player was playing while you were getting a drink?

I'm more than happy to let my drummer use my bass. Of course, I'm married to her and therefore she technically owns half of it - plus, no peace at home means no piece at home.

The guitar players in my band I've known for years, they're both completely trustworthy, and both play instruments more delicate and exceptionally more valuable than my basses.

Strangers? Keep your hands off. People I know and trust? Have a good time. Heck - I've even had dozens of different people play my upright, and it's way more valuable and fragile than my electrics by far.

Sounds like a bad friend. If one of my friends actually broke something using it - I wouldn't have to ask them to pay the bill. They would volunteer.

We have a literally unspoken thing that no one touches anyone else's stuff unless/except to prevent damage or in a giant pinch to tear down.

One MAJOR and TOTAL exception: we all get on the kit. I mean, geeze. Drums aren't really an instrument, take forever to get up/down and ANYONE can bang away on a kit. It's sorta like the kit is everyone's to an extent, if you know what I mean.
