Band Name Question

At least among his next-door neighbors, though the guy who lives behind him and takes in the neighborhood stray dogs probably has the larger audience.

You can hear 'em howling at night.

If he cranks his PA, you can also hear the neighborhood cats chime in.

How careful are you about your band name being original?

Very.

I always do this reality check with any band name that's a possible contender: Google the sentence "a band called [name being considered]"
(Do it both with and without the quotation marks.)
It's a very quick way to see who else anywhere in the world may already be using the name you're considering.

Why duplicate someone else?
And/or why get so attached to a particular name that you'd be willing to share that identity with someone else?

Hey, I've got a question for everyone - How careful are you about your band name being original?

Revisiting because I just remembered that in my huge metro area (Baltimore, Annapolis, Wash DC, northern VA) there might be as many as a dozen classic rock cover bands with "Radio" in the name. I've performed with three of them (and I'm still full time in one)!

Seems like an easy thing to criticize, but my semi-joke is that coming up with an original name is the hardest part of forming a new band. So, partial overlap is understandable IMO.
