Funny, I'm sitting here with my drummer and he had a band "Take 3", and he was smiled that you picked that one out of the others.

He said they stole the idea from another band "Take 6", so i guess it could be any number, haha.

As for Chihuahua as a band name...of course it's been considered. Primarily in the form of "Chihuahua Blues" but I am not really feelin' it.

Thanks to all of you for your input. Unfortunately I don't really feel we are any closer to a resolution. The front runner here, and for us was Mudflap. However, I have been informed by one member that it is not possible now that the Brokeback Mountain reference has surfaced.

The name we have used before was Eric & The Eggheads or just The Eggheads. But that has been pretty much vetoed by the other members and that decision is soundly reinforced here.

Next time we get together I am going to insist that we lock ourselves in a room until we come out with a name. All suggestions made here will be presented for consideration.

+1 for "3 on the Tree"

I like the old gearshift reference for the style of music your wanting to play. Then if you add players you get:

4 On the Floor
5 Speed Overdrive
etc...

Cool logo possibilities there too IMO.

Good luck, this is the hardest part of starting a band isn't it.

I feel your pain. We argued over a band name for so long we ended up just using our initials. We've been trying to come up with a new band name for about 20 years and are still stuck on the initial thing.

We're a bunch of suburban white guys pushing 50 who spend most of our free time cooking out with our families in our back yards. I wanted to go with "The Patio Daddios." Got voted down though. I'm still bitter over that set back. I'll get over it some day...

The band name really isn’t that important, so long as it’s not really horrible.

Some very-successful bands had really lame names, but it didn’t matter.

I would recommend keeping it short, like, very short… easy to put on a marque, T-shirts, banner, etc, and less of a tendency to get abbreviated.

Our band name tends to get abbreviated on marques, our T-shirts use the initials, three letters which also match a model of Harley Davidson, … and it’s just kinda messed and confusing.
