Bare Trees---old Fleetwood Mac

Well... I wouldn't have guessed there was a thread on this very tune, but I started trying to figure out what McVie is doing here a couple days ago. I keep getting lost in the guitar parts he's either octave doubling or playing those little melodic throw-off lines he does so well.

So I just revived an 11 year-old necro-thread! Anybody got anything here?

I must be here somewhere, I got the alert!

Regarding that line, nobody seems to write this kind of looong riff anymore. Everything is a snippet. Or a gimmick.

Actually, @TAZ's comment above was helpful, at least got me counting the parts out correctly. I had heard the G# note in the riff, but I can't seem to get it where it belongs consistently. That's the part giving me fits. :banghead:

This was fun. I'm not as familiar with John McVie as I should be.

Lee,

I'm trying to figure out why you've notated differently what had sounded, kind of, the same to me.

In some cases, you've notated as the 16th's notes, in other cases, you've used the grace notes.

I think it was a combination of hearing some subtle differences and indecision. Now that you point it out, it seems that the differences (if any) are too subtle to worry about. Which one should we go with? 16th notes?

By the way, it's so much more fun to do this with the possibility of very specific (and informed) feedback.

I would go with the 16th notes .

Re more fun with feedback. Cool! I transcribed this & two other Mac tracks from the intermediate incarnation of the band. Yours is top notch, includes a lot of grace notes and a few embellishments that I most likely heard as bass drum hits, or couldn't hear at all, on the vinyl. The only other difference is the Bb as the fade begins - I have it as a B natural. After many tries, reckon I prefer your Bb.

I probably ought to just start a new thread, but I kinda' figure all the people who might know or care already see this one...

I started working out Station Man the other day... and I'm starting to even question my own ears. It's not that damn hard, very catchy actually, so why is it so difficult to memorize this pattern? How'd he do that?

Hey all,

Hate to ask, but I just can't totally figure this one out. Assistance welcome.

If you don't have the tab, please direct me to a good source.

This album is from the early '70's.

TIA,
Joe

Here ya' go. Lots o' bass transcriptions, too. Most, not all, are real good. Bare Trees is dead nuts correct.
