Barefaced Super 15 Arrived Today

Had to do that with my 8x10, GS412 and 200w valve amp, plus a racked power amp, totally sucked. Prefer this way.

The fact I only use epically large valve heads pretty much disqualifies. The forthcoming Matamp mini head might put me back in the running for my jam rig.

The barefaced website is absolutely wonderful.

I live with four million other Hobbits down here in New Zealand and I know exactly how much it would cost to get any of the barefaced cabs to my door. (customs fees aside).

Prices are really, really good.

While I love my GK Neo setup - I am kickin myself for not holding out till I saw these.

Does anyone have experience with the Super 12 and the 15, to comment on the difference in sound. I've read through BF's site - one of the best product sites I've seen. Built like their cabs no doubt! The idea of S12, S15 or Big Twin have bitten me hard. Man these things are it for life.

I see there's no tweeter in the S15, which isn't necessarily a bad thing anyway. Can you S15 guys comment on what the treble-y end from this cab sounds like?

Also, anyone have a shot of the built in wheel design?

Top end from super 15 is pretty much like a guitar cab sort of range, toppier than a dark guitar cab (more top than the bugera driver behringer cabs in the practice space), rolls off enough top to keep the harsh off of using fuzz, so bit more top roll off than some of the harsher guitar speakers.

Tried it out at rehearsal last night,

The guys in the band all took turns at lifting it and were amazed at the weight.

Fired it up and the first thing i noticed was how much louder than my 410hlf it was with the same amp settings.I guess the low tuning of the Ampeg must really suck up the power.

Everyone commented on how it punched through the mix.The low end was still a bit tight to start with but after a couple of hours was loosening up nicely.Would agree with Mr Foxen on the top end which suits me fine with the stingray.

For me it's the mids where it really shines,far more capable than the HLF.I need to spend a bit more time re thinking my eq settings to get the best out of it especially as the drivers get properly broken in.

But for now i'm very impressed

Though the fEARful designs have been out for several years, and tons of info on this forum and mine has accrued, there is no "throw over the wall to builders". As well as helping DIYers, I talk many hours per week on the phone with the authorized builders about materials, techniques, tools, etc - do scads of emails and PMs, and am totally engaged in their builds and their approach to customer service.

While there is some distance in locations, there is no distance in "philosophy". I am every bit as engaged as it is possible to be. As I expect Alex is.
