Barracuda Bass

A status barracuda? If so that is not some normal copy! Those are awesome basses made to the highest standards :) it was status graphites version of the T bass while they were still liecenced with trace elliot, now status has the T Bass name back and a cool graphite neck with unique headstock.

If it is a status, there should be 3 jazz pickups, one is a dummy hum killer (it is just a coil no poles), im sure they had S2 pre amps in also.

I bought a barracuda copy of a jazz bass with the intention of modding the hell out of it. Anyone know anything about this company? Where they're made? It's obviously not a deluxe instrument but I'm just curious about where it came from.
I don't know if it's too late to resurrect this thread but i bought a Barracuda j bass in 2001 and modded the hell out of it. It was all I had for 12 years. Here's the bridge I milled from brass billet and sunk into the body. It's starting to tarnish now.

They were/are seemingly distributed throughout the eastern United States and Canada. Made in China obviously. Although a budget instrument, they did follow Leo's recipe of alder/rosewood/maple neck/single coils. So, the potential for good sound is there. The neck is somewhere between a jazz and a precision and is used on their copies of both types. Here's a picture of the ferrules I made for stb and the beautiful burst.

Hey, idk if this is where I should post this but I bought one of these and the truss rod nut is absolutely stripped, I was wondering if any of you know what size it's supposed to be and if I can buy a replacement that will work.

Thanks!

Last week I received a cool 21-fret Jazz Bass neck from China, ordered on Ebay, that cost me around 100$ CAN dollars, to replace my bad 21-fret Barracuda neck (bad frets-ugly front bend). The neck is very reminiscent of Fender Jazz Bass ones from around 1966-76 with block inlays, white binding and glossy yellow finish. I had to dremel around 5mm in the neck pocket's end in the body and pickguard to fit the neck. My instrument's really improved. (Fender logos on headstock are not included, that's another buying en Ebay)

Hello do you remember the seller you bought this neck from, or maybe the measurements? I have the exact same barracuda bass, i ended up making it fretless...Not really digging it as much. Thanks
