I have a Squier Deluxe Active Jazz V bass that I converted to a 6 string. The end to end (b-c) string spacing is the same:
Neck pup: 2 11/16"
Bridge pup 2 15/16"
Used Bartolini 69s are hard to find. 59s aren't. I think the Bart 59s are blade style (like my existing Carvin j99a pups) so the strings don't have to be placed between pole pieces & may accommodate a narrow 6 string configuration that's the same width as the old 5 string configuration. Right? Or wrong?
I want to use those Carvins on my fretless 5 string SX, & have something beefier for the converted 5-6 string Squier. Good choice? Will Double coil Bartolinis take me a step in the direction of the Music Man bass sound? My choices are limited, not many 6 string pickup options that will fit in the cavities, & the strings won't easily fit between pole pieces due to their narrow spacing.
