I have the 9CBJD-1 in a MIA Jazz Fretless from Best Bass Gear. I wanted a growly Jazz pickup that would be silent when I soloed the bridge on my fretless, but still retain as much of a jazz tone as a dual coil could. Live in the city and even with the shielding - the stockers were too buzzy and could actually tune in the radio when I trurned the right way.
Am very pleased with the Barts. They are growly and well balanced over the strings and between pickups. Output is slightly less than stock. Doesn't extend into the high frequencies like a single coil as you would expect, but otherwise pretty full accross the frequencies. Dead silent together or in pairs. Like them a lot. They are not vintage in sound - but not an objective for me. Gotta pretty much stick to the single coils for that. Anything specific you are looking for?

hey man thanks for answering ok here is the deal....i have a lakland 4-94 with nordies and retro preamp i like it a lot but i really need a 5 stringer so i deciding between a lakland darryl jones, lakland 55-01 with bartolini CB or 55-01 with nordstrand big singles
I have the G66CBJDs in my bass and they sound absolutely great! I've played on a couple of recordings with them and the engineers just loved the sound. The notes are clear and even the B-string sounds good. It think they sound sort of vintagelike - a bit like an old jazz bass, only fatter.
