Leaning toward Barts, after considering Nordstrand Big Splits and SGD. (for my LB75 P2 shape soaps)
Is there anything lost on the Classic Bass models vs the Deep Tone, or just some openness and top end to gain? Looking for versatile, controllable sound.

In my experience, the "classic bass" humbuckers don't lose any of the low end warmth of the "deep tone" humbuckers. They just open up the upper midrange (with resonance) and sweeten the treble by a big margin.

By comparison, the treble in the "deep tone" humbuckers sounds compressed, artificial and somewhat thin. I'd say go with the "classic bass" series. But SGD's neodymium humbuckers are really good as well. It really depends on what kind of music you want to play.

I could consider SGD, it would be nice to try a smaller maker. Just not sure about making the investment into a more unknown area for me. (looks like a long lead-time, too?)
I play a variety of music, mostly jazz, CCM, and classic rock. I like a smooth, round, punchy but not too harsh or growly sound; very occasional slap, and sometimes roll back for a little Jaco flavor. What's missing in my H50AS pickups is some of that "now that's a bass!" sound, probably low/low mid punch.

(I think I'll just have to bite the bullet and get something, and see what happens... I tend to beat it to death before deciding.)
