I'm going to be creating some basic double bass instructional videos in the near future, and will be using a Mac to edit them. I'm comfortable with doing audio but am new to video. What I have at my disposal:
Zoom Q3 (owned by the university where I teach)
Edirol R-09
A few decent large diaphragm mics & preamps
27" iMac quadcore i5
Ozone plugin software for audio optimization
What I'm hoping to do is to shoot and edit some nice quality video and sync the audio to it after cleaning it up and Eq-ing it. It would also be nice to do a few voice overs mixed in and add some text to the screen at times.
At the moment, I only have iMovie on the computer, and I don't know if that will do what I want, or whether I should get something like final cut express. I also don't know how difficult the syncing will be. Obviously, it would be best to only have to sync once - to replace the original audio with the better quality audio on a long video track and then to cut it up and edit it from there.
Do I need something like Final Cut Express to do this? Also, since I don't really need to keep the audio track from the video recorder, would I be better off with a cheap Flip HD type camera for better resolution? I'd like to not spend a fortune, but I'd also like for the results to be nice.
