Basket case 1962 Fender Jazz project

Hi Jim - thanks to you and everyone else for the compliments - this gives me a bit more confidence to take on some other basket case projects.

I didn't really consider replacing the fretboard since I really couldn't think of a good way to get a similar curved veneer on the neck - and while the original board was worn down to little more than a cosmetic element - it did have the advantage that the fretlines were still there ( I don't have a board slotting jig that I'd really trust for laying out all new fret slots) .. and most of the old clay dots were there.

If you do have some ideas on how to veneer a maple neck with rosewood of proper thickness, I'd love to hear, because I have a 66 Jazz Bass neck, original Olympic White headstock, that has had the fretboard stripped off.

no idea how,but i don't imagine it would be cheap......a factory jig would probably be the only way...im guessing that even in 62 very little was done freehand at fender ..i was just curious as that neck appeared to be whittled down farther than i thought could be salvaged

Krishna is the man he did my Tele bass over and people thought it was a total loss. He did a phenominal job and I just recorded with it on Tues and the bass just kills.
He also did my 64 P over in Fiesta and that was another wonderful job.
That bass doesn't get played as much but I keep it around for that Jamerson vibe.
