bass amp for gigging

Hey guys,
I'm looking for a new bass amp, something in the range of $300-$500 (new or used).

please any suggestions would be great.

its a full band, 2 guitars, 1 bass, 3 singers, 1 drummer, so i do need some power, and i dont want to have to be pushing the amp (max power) at all.

i've heard good about apeg and fender.

In todays world, thats not alot of cash for a good amp. Do u want a head and cab or a combo?

Id look at some Carvin stuff. Used or maybe new

Look in the classified for things also.

As much as I hate to say it, your best bet may be Behringer. They have a 410 combo for just under $500.

Look used for sure.

Used Peavey Nitrobass or Firebass for around $200 + Used Avatar 212 for around $250 (or new for $362 shipped)= good to go

Clearly other options, the gk's above, 700RB, Backline 600, etc.

id rather go used gk or peavey, etc than new behringer any day, especially if your looking to gig frequently and need reliability, i got a used gbe 600 for 500 bucks and have never had a problem and it soudns amazing

Rochester NH.... i live in Weare. but what i think you might want to do is find a combo like yorkville that you can add a cab to it later, ashdown might work for you also. i never played one but i know you can get a descent amp from ashdown or yorkville for that much.

I have a GK 400RB 210 Combo I bought used a couple years ago and depending on the size of the venue it might do the trick. For our last gig (around 100 people) it was just on the verge of not being quite enough so you might want something bigger than that.

are you using a p.a.? i've got the gk600 head along with a backline410 for rehearsal - but for most gigs i'm going thru the pa as well.

??? I've had my Ashdown MAG 210T for more than two years and it's never given me the slightest problem.

The Fender Bassman 150 I have will keep up with that level but barely. The 250 would for sure and they do sound nice. I find Peavey stuff to sound really brittle.
They are loud though and do last forevever.

I have a Peavey TNT 115 in New Hampshire I would sell for $225. It runs at 150 watts through a 15 inch speaker, and would run at 200 watts if you added another 4 ohm speaker to it. I'd say it falls just a bit short for anything bigger than a small gig, but another cab, having it miced up, or a DI pedal would work perfectly with it. Gimme a PM if you're interested.

And if your band has a big PA, or you'll be playing at places with a PA, look into a Tech 21 Sansamp Bass Driver DI. It will allow you to simulate a tube amp right through the PA speakers. No amp necessary. It's also a very good sounding stomp pedal and a preamp if you want to use it that way. Whenever I play somewhere with a PA I DI straight from my Sansamp and really just use my amp to fill in the gaps and to hear myself.

Whats up guys, I have this amp. It has some serious power, and I can alway have the upper hand as far as volume goes. And for solid state it's a pretty good tone you can get with it if you use the equalizer to your advantage. I would recommend it especially if you are looking to buy used gear, and if you are looking for something with power and a useable tone.

The key: Are you using a P.A. and using your gear as a backline?

If you are using P.A., you could run a small combo and a Tech21 SansAmp DI through it and gain some power and sound quality, plus if they have an extra monitor or not share with drummer.
