Bass Amp Question

Just purchased a 300 watt bass amp that says it's 4 ohm and 8 ohms. Also on the back it says 430 max. What kind of effect will it have on my 200 watt 15 in cabinet? I'm guessing 150 watts will be sent? Thanks!

The 430 Watts is maximum consumption from the wall power outlet, it is not the speaker output power.

What make and model is the amp? Assuming that it is not a tube amp, the amount of power delivered to the speakers will depend on whether your 200W cabinet is 4 or 8 ohms.

When your cab is a 8 ohm cab, you should be fine. Your amp will probabely put out more then 150 W,
but your cab can handle that.
(as long as you use the "common sens knob" with caution)

You can add a second identical cab with 8 ohms, run them together to get the full 300 W with 4 ohm.
(which is the max load = min impedance, your amp can handle)

Eden e300 is the amp. The cab is Eden d115t. Love Eden tone! The speaker is in excellent shape for its age. Hoping the Eden e300 will be even better. Right now I'm running the speaker off an Eden ec28 combo which I may sell. Good for practice but has no bottom end.

You amp is rated 300W at 4 ohms. That means with a 4 ohm cabinet, the amp can put out the full 300 watts. With an 8 ohm cab, it will deliver less than 300W, not necessarily 150W, it could be more. It depends on the amp.

Check the back of the cab to see if it is 8 or 4 ohms.

With an 8 ohm cab, be careful as mentioned above. Listen for bad distortion, a mechanical flubbing. If you heat it, turn down. It isn’t just down to the volume level, but also the low end EQ level. Turning the bass up is like turning the volume up in terms of the output level.
