Bass as a Solo Intrument?

+1 to Seth Horan. His music isn't overly difficult either if you have a little experience. If I could sing and play the way he does, I'd be trying to do solo stuff too. I love solo bass more than any other instrument honestly. Biased? A bit.

Just listened to Zander Zon's stuff and I'm very impressed. You can tell how much he's expanded his skills (both technical and compositional) in the past couple of years of videos.

+1 on Manring. I'm less fond of his music than EW's but the guy is a great musician.

Guitar is obviously a soloing or lead instrument - to me the strength of bass is subtle, it will always be that way, it's the real beauty and power of the instrument.

It's true more people should appreciate the bass, but I am kind of tired of bassists trying to be like guitarists and trying to get limelight.

To me someone like Aston Barrett is worth a thousand noodlers.

Just my opinion, - if I want to solo I pick up a more suitable instrument with a wider range that operates more around the frequencies people can easily hear, like a guitar..

Very well said. The reason i love bass is because it has such a subtle intensity that only a true musician could appreciate
