Bass Balls...

Hi,

I have a big interest for this effect, but two BassBalls are on the market, the "cheap" look in blue/black (Russian i think). and the steel look "jump on me and never i die" (USA)... like 20$ under for the "blue/black".

One are better than the other or... ?

The only difference is the Russian has slightly cheaper components and so is less costly overall. They're both as sturdy as eachother I would have thought, so it usually doesn't matter which you go for, probably just a minute difference in tone.

What about the Nano Bassballs?

It's really tiny, and essentially identical to the American version in controls, style, and sound. I've never used a Russian Bassballs, though, so I'm not sure how it compares.

Supposedly, when it comes to Russian VS American Electro-Harmonix products, there isn't much difference unless you're considering build quality or comparing the Muffs (that's where things really get varied).

All of the new XO and Nano pedals use a standard Boss-style power supply, which is a huge plus if you're using a daisy chain. No need for fancy adapter plugs!

And how much smaller is it? 2.25" Wide, 4.25" Long, x 1.25" Tall. Smaller than a Little Big Muff, smaller than a Boss pedal, about as big as those tiny MXR pedals!

To say the least... it's small. :D

I tried the nano bass balls today, and it was apalling, it is not in the same league as my us model. if it were down to me - avoid at all costs!!!

Really? It sounded about the same to me.

It might have to do with the amp I used (a little Roland modeling amp at the shop I was exploring)?

Hmm... perhaps there's some discrepancies between the regular U.S. Bassballs models, similar to what happens often with the Russian ones.

True. I have the original silver red lettered from the 80's. I love my balls....bass balls. But if you should happen to find an old one.... WATCH YOUR HIGHS! You will blow your tweeter quick. That little black switch in the up position and some tweaking will emulate a dropping bomb effect. Remember the GAP BAND song "You Dropped A Bomb On Me"? You can get that same bomb dropping effect with the original unit.
