With me it's just the opposite. I'm allergic to dogs instead of cats. I start having a serious allergic asthmatic reaction.

My cat used to like to sit on top of my cabinet while I played, and as soon as a song was over she would start howling her own solo. We had a band rule - no one was allowed to warn guests that it was going to happen, made for better reactions.
I did have a cat that liked to sit on the cab while I practiced, for some reason or other.

OP, you're not alone. My first cat used to do this when he was a kitten. That is how I gave him his name, Flea. But he grew out of that. So I dont really have advice per say.
My cat now, he likes to cuddle up on my lap when I'm playing! He never does it otherwise which is sort of annoying haha. But every other time I start playing in bed, he comes right up and on my lap and plops down and chills. Meanwhile, I can't really play. I think it's an attention thing honestly. I love my cat though, so he can do anything and I cant get mad at him. Hes my boy

My kids' cat....it lives outside. It eats moles and squirrels and the occasional rabbit. It licks its crotch.

There's a difference between wild or barn animals and house pets
My cat does that too, rubbing up against and even pawing at the strings. But I believe this is an attention thing, because she does this when I'm sitting down at the computer too, jumping up on my lap and sometimes even walking across the keyboard. Or jumping onto my shoulders from floor level and hold hold on for dear life while I am playing.
My ex-girlfriend's cat used to curl up in front of my bass amp whenever I practiced at home, right in front of the speaker.
Used to have a cat that would run up to me and bite me every time I tried to play harmonica.
My current cat doesn't have such strong objections to my sound, but does offer constructive criticism by sitting on my amp and adjusting my knobs to his liking. I have to verify their positions every time I plug in so I don't blow my eardrums out.
