"I Put a Smell on You," covered by the Noxious Flatulence. I had to try to get through the entire song without inhaling.
Posting this even though it's current, but YT can't help me with this one at all: Hands down the most difficult song I've ever had to learn for a band is something I'm sitting on right now: Moonlight Serenade, the Chicago version. It's a Samba, but the whole thing plays like one giant fill full of 16ths with no room for pause. I have the sheet music for it, and dividing the whole thing into pieces works okay, but it makes me go crosseyed at regular speed.
I remember really struggling with Jump by Van Halen. For some reason I could never get the timing in the bridge. Sounded simple enough when listening to it but I couldn't make it work. And any thing Reggae. Nope can't do it. B.
I remember GFRs "T.N.U.C" kicking my butt. And it probably would again today if I were to revisit it!
Freewill - Rush I learned that one, by ear, in my first few years of playing bass. The solo section was tough for me. I learned it off of cassette, which at the time, I didn't know my cassette player ran fast. I found out six months later when I got it on CD. It took me quite a while to get that part down. Like, months.
Herbie Flowers’ beautiful Space Oddity part. Got it down ok, but getting it right in every detail was an enjoyable challenge.
Great player. I think, if I recall correctly, he was called in, got the chart, ran it once and then recorded it. I remember transferring the album to tape, then rewind, rewind rewind!
