Bass Guitar holder/stand so I don't have to have bass on a strap?

Hi all.

Looking at the Mbrace as well, and was wondering what you that have it think of it after using it for several months?

Also looking for recommendations for the stand. Amazon has two on their Mbrace page, one says it is heavy duty and costs about double what the other one is. I'm thinking of getting that heavy duty one

if it is really worth the extra. I mean as long as it really does hold more weight. Other than sounding like it is built more sturdily there is nothing I can find about actual weight capacity.

Thanks,
Russ

Hey TB. I'm having some physical issues with shoulders and elbows and playing with a bass on a strap is getting difficult and uncomfortable (even with light basses).

I've seen pics of some sort of stand that holds the bass in a playing position, apparently with adjustable height and ability to pivot a bit, so all you have to do is walk up to the bass and play.

Anyone know about this kinda thing? Can you recommend a brand that has these features and is solid enough to hold up to, say, a 10 pound bass and where I could buy one? Or, if not, what these things are called so I can refine my research? And, of course, if anyone has any experience with these, would love to hear if they actually work well, etc.

Thanks a lot, DM
i wonder if you could adapt the ibanez ub804 or NS tri-pod stands to a fender bass or similar?

Here’s something you can do on a budget, and if you’re handy…I built this for a guitarist I know who had surgery(a kidney removed!), after checking on prices on manufactured units. Prices? Yow.
Not perfect as far as getting the positioning just right, but potentially tweakable, and I would imagine a longer bass neck might cause some problems, but for his guitars(a Strat and JM style)it has worked out and stays stable…

Two ways of going about it…take your typical keyboard X-stand, found cheap enough used, and use either a guitar wall hanger cradle (with plastic covering), or a couple of bolts/nuts, put some sort of padding on those to keep the body from getting scratched and for wedging(I found these foam tubes at a surplus store), and place them where it would fit the ergonomics of the body shape. Drill some holes, install, there you go. Using all bolts can accomodate wider bodies, and you can adjust angles of intersection…

You can place the instrument further away, or closer, as needed, and as the feet are spread apart at a ‘sweet spot’, and as long as no one on stage bumps its, it is reasonably solid. Then it folds up neatly…

Total cost in parts was about $40, but I buy up used bits and bobs whenever I see them.
