Bass Hipshot D extender key not fitting

I ordered a Squier 40th Anniversary Jazz bass and have been playing it for awhile. I also ordered a Hipshot D key tuner recently, but when I tried putting it on my bass the screw holes on the headstock did not line up with the places on the tuner. Then I noticed the shapes of the tuners did not match. Is there a detail I am missing or is nothing wrong? If I ordered the wrong type of tuner, where could I get one which matches my bass?

There are multiple models of the Xtender key that are designed to match up with specific tuners and brands of basses. Are you sure you purchased the correct model for your instrument?

If in doubt, go to Hipshot's website and look at the different models. They should have a diagram with the measurements between the screw holes and peg hole.

Thank you for the info! I'll see what I can get for my bass.

You definitely ordered the wrong style Hipshot Xtender for that bass. If I'm not mistaken, the BT7 Hipshot Xtender is a drop-in replacement for Squier and other import basses. The one you have now looks like a BT1 made for basses such as Music Man and G&L.
