Bass ID help..!!..

OK, here is the deal. I got this bass years ago from a friend. Long story short, I know he bought it back in the early 80's when we were in Jr. High School. It was in an ad in Guitar Player magazine back then and from what I can rememebr, it came from Canada. This was and still is a nice bass, but I know nothing about it and would like to find out who made it, etc... Any info or help would be appreciated. Oh, and the case is not original. The old one was toast so I got this Gator for it a few years ago. I know it needs a good cleaning. The brass will polish up real nice and it looks awesome when it is all cleaned up.

I don't think that the Odyssey in Greece is the same company. They dont use the Canadian Odyssey logo on their headstock.

Odyssey of Canada made some beautiful basses. Difficult to find. I suspect they may not be around any longer.


Edit: OK, I missread your post. You were saying the same thing. I got it.

Yeah, that's it. It's an old Odysse for sure. Man, this thing is fun to play. I found all kinds of info on it after the first response. At first I found that site overseas and saw the headstock was different. What a death that Attila had huh? If it's true I guess.

Sorry for bringing this thread back, but I thought it would be an appropriate place to post this. I found an Attila Balogh bass in a Long & McQuade a few months ago. I had no idea what it was, but I immediately noticed the age and quality of the instrument and the unfamiliar double A logo on the headstock. I played it for a bit and sort of fell in love with it, then I saw that it was only $150 and I was pretty much sold. It came with a fitted hardshell case, too. After I got home, I did some research and found that the luthier with the double A logo was Attila Balogh. As I understand it, he was only in business from 1977 to 1982. I think this is one of the lower-end/economy models that Attila made in addition to the high-end Odyssey line. Oddly, I haven't been able to find pictures of another Attila Balogh bass with a pickguard. The bass is in really great shape for its age, with only one mar in the finish near the back strap button.
