Bass Inlay

I've got a Wal on the way and I had an inlay deisgned, but Paul said he wouldn't be comfortable putting the inlay on the bass. I greatly simplified what I'll have him put on, but I'd still like to get the rest put on later.

Does anyone know or has anyone used a luthier/inlay person that is good or that they trust?

Would anyone recommend against doing this? I'm not worried about price, but permanent damage to the bass.
