LA Woman
Riders on the Storm

LA Woman is far and away my favorite Doors album, and always has been. It wasn’t until I had been playing bass for a few years that I realized it was because of Jerry Scheff. Even though the bassline for Riders on the Storm was written by Ray Manzarek, it’s very different when played by a monster bassist like Scheff.

That other band he was in was pretty good too.

Hmm..I'll name a couple of songs with cool bass intro's...not sure if I have one I would call the best though:

1. Hey you - Pink Floyd
2. Badge - Clapton/Cream
3. Naughty Naughty - Danger Danger (90's hair band that had a smokin Guitar player...aka Andy Timmons)

Regarding Badge: I read in one of George Harrison's books that the George was sort of inadvertently responsible for the title. George was trying to help Eric Clapton write out a new song and George had written out a basic outline. In the middle of George's mostly blank piece of paper was the word "bridge". Eric looked across the table at the to-Eric-upside-down paper and asked George, "Why badge?" Supposedly Eric Clapton used to come on stage and say, "Where's my badge?"

Also mentioned by George was the fact that Ringo (drunk as usual) contributed the line, "I told you 'bout the swans, that they live in the park."
