I don't understand how playing that song is boring.

To each their own, but I do agree. I never liked this song or the Eagles really (The Dude had it right..), until I started playing it.
It's one of my favorite songs to perform now - really fun, interesting line, and then really rock out the ending while my guitarist and viola player shred the harmonized solo over the top.

Bass lines in songs that are not melodic and dynamic make be bored. This ranges from super fast picking of scales without much of anything (one long chorus without a build up), to slow groves that repeat itself over and over and over and over again without interesting lyrics/vocals or instrumental changes (drone music without any dynamic chorus). It can be in any style of music, and not specific to any style. But there are styles of music that lend themselves more to the boring than others.
