Double Bass Bass Max with tube/DI pre-amp?

Has anyone tried a BassMax pickup with any kind of a tube/DI pre-amp?

I go straight to the PA after the preamp (Fishman Pro EQ Platinum or LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI) and do not use an amp on stage. Does a tube pre/DI sweeten/fatten up/add some bloom.... or are piezo pickups and tube pre-amps a bad mix?
