Bass Meca Near Disneyland?

Ok guys I am going to Anahiem Ca, Next week. Are there any don't miss bass places near Disneyland that I should take in?

I really don't know what is around Disneyland in California. Is there something like Bass Central near there? I was in Seattle and missed Bass Northwest so I don't want to make that mistake again.

NAMM is a trade show one week a year in Anaheim and it's not open to the public.

There aren't any specialty bass shops down in the OC that I know of, but there are some cool used gear/consignment shops. Check out Pro Music Exchange in Orange (10 minutes from Disney). That place is packed with used basses & amps & pedals.

If you feel like driving 20 minutes to Naples (Long Beach), GoGo Guitars is a cool new boutique guitar store.

Gear Trader in Huntington Beach often has some cool stuff.

I can't think of a thing in Anaheim.

For upright players, Lemur Music is south of Anaheim in San Juan Capistrano.

If you want to drive North, Rob Allen and the L.A. Bass Exchange spring to mind.

THere is one in San Diego - see add in back of bass player. Also, huge GC and other satellite stores in Hollywood.

Yeah.. 'Pro Music' in Orange on Main St. is kool, but you forgot a good one IMO.. and thats 'Squid Music' in Stanton on Beach Blvd. And of course the old tried and true: 'Sam Ash Music' in Westminster also on Beach Blvd.

I've been going to school at Chapman University, located right at the circle of Orange. So I've been to a lot of the local places.

Ehh...Pro Music in Orange isn't that good. They have a couple Italias and then generic basses.

I've been to Squid Music in Stanton once (about 2 years ago) and nothing struck me. Just seemed like your average mom & pop place. For some trivia: this was the place where the guitarist/singer of Reel Big Fish had his guitar lessons.

Tone Merchants on Katella in Orange is a super high-end specialty guitar shop. There was a Ritter there about 4 years ago. Beyond that, I don't think they've stocked anything bass related for years. It couldn't hurt to give them a call.

Jim's Music in Irvine is a nice place. I think they have a G&L or 2 and some other more generic gear.

GoGo Guitars had a couple Eastwoods in stock when I was there recently. They had the Gretsch knock off and the hi-flyer, but I think that latter was sold. It's a tiny shop.

There's Sam Ash as previously mentioned and a Guitar Center if you go down the 5 a little ways (or you can go up to Brea to the other one...or down the 5 some more to the one on El Toro)

I haven't been to Lemur Music (sorry, I'm just a bass guitarist), but its rather far south if you're just going to be in the Orange area (roughly 30 minutes without traffic).

If you do end up going all the way down to San Diego, Bass Alone is a good choice. Its about 2 hours or so from Orange. I've only been twice since John stopped running the place. They have a lot of high-end gear. There are other places in San Diego that might be good. I lived there before moving up to Orange.

There are a lot of other small mom & pop places dotted around the area. They all have similar stuff judging from my experience. I'll have to check out Bass Exchange since when I first moved up here they seemed to be down and out.

The only thing worth going to in So Cal is the Bass Exchange (AKA "The amp shop")

They always have Fbasses, MTD's, USA Laklands (And Skylines) Usually have Fodera, Zon, Sadowsky, Nordies (Haven't seen a real nordstrand though just nordies) I've seen about every boutique bass mentioned on here at that store.

Yeah, its by the Mesa Boogie store (Every lakland ever is at the Mesa store)
