Bass neck seam split

Is that a peavey? Anyway, I would have liked a better repair, but glue is really stronger than wood. The neck should be pretty stable.
Probably caused by waaay over tightening the truss rod to compensate for other issues. Basically the truss rod is trying to come out of the neck.
IF this is on a common, easy-to-find instrument, I'd pass, too many other examples easily purchased.
IF it were something fairly rare that comes along only once in a while, I'd think about it.
IF it's truly been 'professionally repaired', I'd want to find out exactly what that means and WHO did it.
But my gut reaction would be to keep walking.

The are only a couple of reasons I would buy a bass with that issue;
1. If it was a very, very valuable bass and I was picking it up for much less than half the current going second hand price for it thereby leaving enough money to get it properly fixed.
2. If it is not a very valuable bass but I like the body, electronics etc. and I was able to buy it cheap enough to put a good replacement neck on it in the future if it completely failed.
Most things can be fixed by a good luthier.... that doesn't look like it was fixed by a good luthier.

It would stop me from making a "serious" offer. I still might offer a few bucks for a wall hanger bass.
Yes that would scare me away.
Assuming the instrument price is not heavily discounted, I'd not submit an offer. It is very nice the seller disclosed the issue but you don't know what caused the issue, who fix it and what was done to correct it.
Wouldn't scare me away John but I wouldn't pay top dollar.
There are plenty Peaveys out in the wild , you'll spot another without the repaired seam soon enough.
Literally coming apart at the seams. Hell no.

I would pass on that. Any damage that could be attributed to anything truss rod related is a red flag for me. It might be fine but unless the price is extremelty low and it was repaired by a well respected luthier, why risk it? I would at least want more info about the damage and the person who repaired it.
Yeah and it's not a seam...it's the weakest gain structure which finally yelled "uncle" under duress.
