Bass On Ebay Help

Hey I've posted a few threads on here about basses on ebay and i am seriously considering this one for a couple reasons.
The seller has 100% feedback. It tells you everything about the bass that you would need to know. And the designs are cool. They do this with all their bass guitars so I'm going to post a few on here that I'm Interested in.

the pricepoints are very lucrative for new players who don't know if they will stick with the instrument BUT....
If you are considering keeping this bass for a while i would personnaly steer clear of basic chinese brands that dont have the build quality and backing that you get from the major companies. I would suggest looking for a second hand squier/ibanez/epiphone/olp/ltd etc etc that will have better quality hardware and pickups and the like that will give you a more enjoyable playing experience and probbably keep you interested in playing more too!!!

I'd consider this one for a fourbanger, myself.

Yeah, folks here seem to consistently think that SX's are the bass to buy if you're on a lean budget. I am deeply suspicious of anything on Ebay that hasn't been vetted by someone... Besides, those ebay pages are just a bit too slick for my tastes.

I'm a 35 + year bass playin Veteran, your 1st base will have a big influence on you. Go to a decent local Music Store, look at some of the Sqires priced at 250.00 offer 150.00 and everyone is happy.

I'm a vintage Fender guy, but those SXs look great for the money. Especially the Fender Jag in powever blue.

From your interest in the ebay basses, seems like you're looking for a Jazz bass.

This bass: Link Removed, including shipping, would come to $134.23 (shipped to NJ, anyway) - same as the bass in the ebay ad.

The SX has an alder body (same as in Fenders), while the '2kool4skool' :rollno::D bass has a basswood body... not a terrible body wood, but for a Jazz, alder (or ash) is usually the way to go.

I vote SX. Lots of different finishes to choose from (if that's what's hanging you up) and they have a proven track record here on TB... just browse the thousands of posts on 'em!

Good luck to you & let us know what you decide on! :)

I agree with the general consensus; SX is the way to go. I've heard bad things about "2kiool4skool" before... Their instruments, it seems, have a way of falling apart shortly after you leave feedback...... Remember that feedback is (generally) left right when you receive the product, and not five years down the road.

I also agree that your first bass will have a large effect upon whether or not you stick to playing it. If it sounds bad through an amp, you wont want to play it as much - simple fact.

SX all the way. Or, as stated above, a used Ibanez, Squier, Epiphone, etc.

These threads are making it almost impossible for me to not buy an SX. The blue fretless 5 string J is like 130 or something, that's damn near free....you could pay 100 for a pro setup on a 6 string, or a few packs of strings...

you know what i want to do here, It's to report a troll to the mod. :hmm:Please Martyman just stop. If you can't grow up, it's not our fault but stop your statement on no fondation.

Seriously, the noob.

In Martyman's defense I was kinda wondering almost the same. With all the publicity Rondo gets on this site they should have to pay advertisements dollars lol.

I for one never owned a SX but for all the great publicity they get on this site they must be pretty good axes for the money. After all, word of mouth is usually means alot more to me than a company paid advertisement or having a celeb endorse something just for a pay check. I do think that some of the SX claims "may" be somewhat exagerated

To the OP, I would suggest you try before you buy. Even being inexperienced you can usually tell the quality of something just from sitting in your hands. Also see what feels comfortable to you.

I would recommend a Squier standard series or the vintage modified stuff. You cant get that stuff used pretty cheap at a music store. Alot of people here recommend SX and alot of these guys that do are probably better players than myself. And for someone who plays and gigs to endorse something usually means that it is a quality product. In short find what you like and what you can affort and practice as much as you can.
