Bass-only band

Would it work? Do you know any bands that contain only a drummer and 2 or more basses? I reckon at least 1 bass should be a 6 string, and that 6 string player would have to really know his stuff....

I used to be a part of a bass & drum band. I was the bass, obviously, and would use a loop pedal sometimes to loop a bass line and play over it. It "worked" for us, and we had a good 3 years in before we broke up.

But you're right, the band probably wouldn't draw enough attention from the general crowd.

We got a lot of attention, at times. Doing something different is certainly one way of getting attention. According to the drummer, we would have had more attention if my vocals were better.

It would be fun, but just aa a jam thing and a gig once in a blue moon. You could never package that idea with expectations of playing out much.

We played 40 shows over the course of a year, and kept it up for 3 years.

I've occasionally done some songs with just one bass and vocals for the simple reason that the guitarists hadn't learned the songs yet, or had learned them but not well enough to sing and play at the same time. So, in small doses, like four songs on one gig, that works.
Here's an example from last week - we have two guitarists but one can't sing and play this at the same time (and I don't blame her) and the other had been away on a business trip and just hasn't learned the song yet, so we went with bass, voice and pandeiro:

That definitely works for a couple of songs as variety, and girls were dancing, but a whole set like this would be very tough to pull off.

Cool band you have!

I can't understand a word of it, and it's totally not the type of music I normally listen to but there is something appealing to it thats why I listen to all the songs you uploaded :)
