New bass and new rig, therefore I'm interested in exploring some effects etc.
Bass is an ibanez SRT805 with the EMG40DC's in it, rig is GK MB2-500 into a GK 2x12 neo cab.
Now I went into my local music store yesterday and tried:
Tech21 GT2
Tech21 paradriver
T21 VT bass
T-Rex mudhoney
Boss bass OD
Mxr OD
Some other cheapish pedal with separate high and low gain knobs.
I was running into an ibanez promethean 2x10 with everything flat. Now, unfortunately I don't really like the sound of this amp with my bass anyway. But when I engaged most of the above pedals, I really got a sense that the sound was very 'wet', ie I could tell that there was modelling happening. I felt the gt2 had a bit to offer, te mudhoney was good too, the boss bass od was nearly my fave.
Now, at home in my guitar stuff, I have a boss metal zone, Mesa v-twin and an ibanez tubescreamer. Has anyone had any experience with using any of those? And should I take my bass head into a shop and give the T21 VT bass another go? It seems to rate highly here, and I was quite disappointed.
