Bass Painting Design Ideas

I've recently built my first bass it's a similar shape to a musiclander guitar body it's made out of an ash wood cookie I know I probably shouldn't've used a wood cookie but it had been drying for about 40 years and I was pretty sure it wouldn't split. Anyways it has this absolutely beautiful circular grain which kind of looks like a target and i don't want to paint over all of the wood but still would like some paint on my bass. Does anyone have any suggestions for me =? They would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Paint the neck? Use dye, if looking for color, rather than "paint" specifically? Build another bass and paint it...?

If by paint, you mean opaque color? I wouldn't "paint" any of it.
But translucent dye & clear cote?.... oh heck yeah.
That cookie is begging for some colored frosting. But I wouldn't want to hide any grain with paint.
Rather, bring it out... "pop".
A nice vivid "bullseye" burst/fade?
Pick up some tints.
The powdered ones like "Keda" brand are cheap.
Play with color combinations and blending on scrap... lots of scrap...preferably the same species of wood, but you can get the "feel" of building color with dye on any wood.... until you're confident. There are tons of tutorials on easy hand rubbed dye jobs on the YouTube for visual instruction... and plenty of advise from skilled folks here...who dig helping.
