...but in Fact I was only trying, because I have got a removable white Background ;):p

I'll play. . . cheap bass photo taken with a cheap camera. . . perfect match!

That's come out well. Is the glow around the bass is due to and overheard or under bass light? Is the bass supported on something? It looks like it is floating.

Just shows what you can do with a cheap camera! What would be really cool is if you slid the bass down another 12" and had the glow all the way around the body.

IMHO it's not often a carpet shot is 'worthy' of inclusion in a Bass Photography thread, but this is a great shot and the tight crop, actually overcrop, makes the picture. Great shot!

However folks, watch the cropping! Unintentional cropping will quite often will spoil a good shot. A bit like the pic of the Rob Allen bass below where there's a sliver of the top of the lower bout off the edge. One second more and a readjustment of the frame and the shot would have really worked.

If you're going to do a set-up body shot, remember to think about the composition! That's not to say a quick snap won't render a great result, some of the images in the thread show that, but often it's not 'til you review the image, you find out that a bit is cut off, etc. Particularly if your view finder doesn't show you 100% of the image.

Anyway, echoing a post above, it's great to see this thread going again, proving that you don't need a fancy camera or years of experience of photography to get really great results.

For anyone who's interested TB member tbone0813 has done a 2010 bass guitar photography calendar via lulu.com. He's done this as a no profit venture and the link to the calendar for anyone interested is here: [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Well worth the $12.49 IMHO!

The body is sitting on 2 rectangular tupperware containers with a speedlight inside. i tried to get the glow bigger, but it was set to full blast already and I couldn't squeeze another flash in the tupperware. There's a water bottle under the headstock supporting that.
