Bass Photography! Part 2

^^Nice shots, judging by the lighting it was not taken recently unless global warming has really gotten to Yorkshire!

Thanks :) These were taken last summer. Sadly I didn't have my main player with me at the time (Warwick Corvette) so I don't have any decent shots of her :(

Other observation, although it might just be the close-up, is that you play with a seriously high action!

I don't think that my action is high, but then again I'm primarily a double bassist. I just measured and they are all about 3mm at the 12th fret. Is that considered to be high?

The angle of the sun is a factor anyway - the shadows aren't directly under the strings so it makes them look like they are further from the frets than they really are.

I'm assuming you're measuring the action without a capo at the first fret and fretting at 21, but even then 3mm would be high for me, but horse for courses. If it works for you that's all that matter. Anyway we digress I look forward to you getting a shot of the Corvette when you get your day of summer this year!!

(I lived in the UK for 25 years so I know what it can be like!)

If I do this then I've got about enough room to fit a piece of thin cardboard under the string (the business card thing, right?)

:D

It's funny because it's true... :(

This is your first post?
Nice, thanks!

3mm is pretty dang high, at least for me.
I keep mine at 1/16 from the top of the fret to bottom of the string at 12, with the string fretted at 1st position.

I have my DB set at about 5mm...

I guess I'll continue the "Reptiles on Basses" theme from the last thread. This is my "dog". We'll, she's like a dog. She has free roam of the house and has tons of personality.

Here she is, giving me the "stinkeye" !

Say Hi to Noelle for me .... I used to play with her and Andre back in California. She's a super talented lady and a great writer.

Its been a while since I posted in the bass photography thread and since I got a new camera and took some experimental photos, because I hadn't owned this kind of camera before I was getting used to it and here are some of what I got.

P.S. its a Nikon Coolpix P100 digital camera and yes some of the others I have are a little better.
