bass pick opinions

I'm a 99.5% finger style bass player. I'm also a 99.5% pick guitar player. This is my question to TB community: what is your BASS PICK of preference? I ask because I want to include a bass pick for definition/attack when it's needed.

My favorite pick is the green Dunlop Tortex .88's.
Just the right thickness. I play thumb,fingers & pick.Some band's I play with sound best with fingers/thumb,some with the Dunlop pick.Gives lots of definitiion.I like 'em!

I second the Tortex 88. (Green Ones) I have used the 1mm in the past but always seem to find home again with the 88’s!

I do Dunlop 0.88mm, only in nylon.

I love the .63mm (green) version. Doesn’t slip out of fingers at a gig, easy to play and sounds great from gentle to very firm pressure.

These are thick enough at 1.5mm and they facilitate the strummy technique required to not develop hand problems. Also, they sound awesome.

Same one that I have settled for on guitar, after years of trying and dozens of different ones.
Pickboy Carbon Nylon Extra Heavy 1.14mm - I love the hard, stiff material, grippy surface, sharp tip and the bright attack it gives me. Inexpensive as well, I buy them a dozen at a time.

I use quite a few different kinds for different attacks. But my go-to are Tortex .88, .73 and .60 (green, yellow and orange). But I have some Clayton, Martin, Fender and others. My mic stand pick holder looks like a bunch of squished Skittles.

I change it up, depending on my needs: everything from a nearly 20 year old felt pick to a medium Fender metal pick. But my middle-ground standard is the Dunlop Ultex series. They're stiffer than Tortex, so you can get rigidity without thickness. I like that.

I have settled on the thicker pick. The 1.0 to the big stubby 3.0 have been used in in the past. The 1.0 is a little too thin for me and the 3.0 is a little too thick, but I'll use which ever one is handy.

It depends. I'm also largely a 3 finger kinda guy. Though for some stuff, I use the white Geipel 1mm's (they're so smooth..) and for the rest, it's the yellow Dunlop .73's. ALWAYS the picks with the wide surface area and narrow point. I can't vibe with a standard teardrop shape.

These are hands down my favorite, I’ve tried everything under the sun and these are perfect for me!

I play with a pick about the same percentage of the time that you do. I find it easiest to slide on one of these when I do need a pick. It facilitates going from fingers to pick and back again w/o having to palm or stash the pick. When not in use they hang from the little pick pocket on my Ken Smith strap.

When I started playing in the 60's, I transitioned to bass from guitar and was a pick player. I used felt picks on bass to deepen the sound and reduce the "click" from using a hard pick.
