what are some good bass pickups, im looking for something cheap (100-300) maybe more, its more for solo and small band playing, and style of music can vary from classical to jazz to swing.

This link covers pickups and preamps and more, although some of the info might actually be a little bit dated.
These days, at least among people who frequent this forum, the Fishman Full Circle, the Realist and the Rev Solo are popular pickups. So is the K&K Bass Max. Still lots of Underwood users out there too I believe. I know Ive left some out.
